We hope this information finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines.
While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety. Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable. We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep patients and staff safe. Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued.
Additionally, Walnut Creek Family Dentistry has collaborated with the Methodist Covid Medical Doctors to utilize best and most up to date infection control and current understanding of the COVID 19 literature. Dr. Cowherd actively participates in two dental study clubs where he and other general dentists and specialists are continuously collaborating to form the best practices in making our patients safe. Our office is uniquely qualified to navigate these times.
You may notice some changes when it is time for your next appointment. These changes were made to help protect our patients and staff. We want you to know we have a thorough plan for these unique times.
• Our office will communicate with you before your appointment to ask screening questions. These same questions will be asked again when you are in the office.
• Curbside check-in. When you arrive for your appointment at our office, stay in your car and call (515)223-8008. We will let you know when your provider is ready for your scheduled appointment.
• Your temperature will be taken before entering the office.
• Staff will wear face shields over masks and eyewear during appointments.
• Hand sanitizer will be available. We ask that you use it when you enter the office.
• You may notice that our waiting room will offer limited seating and no longer offer magazines and children’s toys, since these items are difficult to clean and disinfect.
• Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients.
• We will strive to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.
• Individuals who accompany patients to their appointments will not be allowed in treatment areas per the CDC.
We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. Please be patient with our office and staff as we work on rescheduling hygiene appointments.
To make an appointment, please call our office at (515) 223-8008. Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends. We miss seeing your smiling face and are so excited to resume providing dental care.
