Clear aligners are a good alternative for patients who want a straighter smile but do not want to wear traditional braces. Additionally, aligners are beneficial for patients with previous orthodontic treatment who want to make minor corrections to their smiles. There are several advantages to using clear aligners:
😁 Clear aligners are difficult for other people to see
😁 You don’t need to avoid sticky foods or gum because you take out clear aligners before eating
😁 It’s easy to brush and floss after meals since the aligners are removable
😁 Clear aligners are more comfortable and less likely to irritate the gums and cheeks than braces

We bet that fresh breath is important now more than ever since you're wearing a mask and staying safe! We have 4 helpful tips to help you keep your breath fresh and pleasant all day long.

1. Eat your greens! Eating green leafy vegetables, or any water-rich fruits & veggies, is a great way to keep your breath in check because the water in those foods helps with saliva production.

2. Brush or scrape your tongue: Your tongue is a wonderful collector of gunk. So, to keep your breath smelling fresh all day, you’ve got to keep it clean. Be sure to aim for the back of your tongue where most of the particles tend to linger.

3. Carry the right tools: Keep a toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss on hand for when you have a delicious garlicky meal.

4. Water is your friend: Pack a water bottle when you leave the house and actively try to drink more water during the day. Use an app or set reminders on your phone. Water is good for you and your breath!

We hear this a lot, “How can I straighten my teeth?”

First, an orthodontist will take digital X-rays and molds of your teeth. Then, they will help you choose your best option. Braces have become a fashion statement with fun-colored ties to match your favorite sports team or even just your mood. More discrete options are popular with adults, like ceramic tooth-colored braces or clear aligners (like Invisalign). Treatment is customized based on your needs and with braces, office visits are typically scheduled every 4-6 weeks.

Cleft lip and cleft palate affect the appearance of the face but may also present a variety of difficulties including difficulty eating, speech difficulties, ear infections, and misaligned teeth. It is possible to correct both cleft lip and palate through surgery, usually performed between the ages of 3 to 6 months. Learn more here: https://sm-il.es/3fakRuY

Sports help kids stay healthy, and mouth guards help smiles stay healthy. Mouthguards are vital for lessening the impact to the face or mouth and reducing the risk of broken teeth. When you consider that children between the ages of 5 and 14 account for almost 40% of all sports-related injuries, we can easily see why taking every precaution, especially wearing mouth guards, is so important. If you’re interested in a mouthguard for your child or yourself, please contact us today.

Long before the first tooth arrives, the assessment of infants’ oral soft tissue is crucial. Left untreated, lip and lower lingual tongue ties can have significant impacts on children’s development that reach into adulthood. A frenectomy is a simple procedure to address these conditions which can be completed in a few seconds. If your pediatrician suggested your child has a tongue or lip tie procedure, contact us for more information. #NCCAPM
