[10/21/14]   One way to help keep your teeth whiter after a teeth whitening procedure is to chew sugarless gum. The gum helps to remove debris between teeth but also triggers the release of saliva, which helps to neutralize acids in the mouth that lead to tooth decay.

[10/17/14]   False teeth have come a long way over the years. In Victorian England, people who had false teeth were served dinner in their bedrooms. They were then expected to join the family at the dinner table and refrain from eating, to avoid the possible embarrassment of their teeth falling out.

[10/14/14]   The first dentistry school in the world was established in Bainbridge, Ohio. It was started by Dr. John M. Harris and opened its doors on February 21, 1828.

[10/10/14]   Do you think fake teeth today are expensive? In the early 1800s dentures were made of expensive porcelain and attached to 18 karat gold plates.

[10/07/14]   Sometimes, you can do everything correctly when it comes to the care of your teeth and gums and still have gum recession. Studies indicate that as much as one-third of all people are likely to end up with gum recession because the trait runs in their family.

[10/03/14]   What causes tooth discoloration? Some people’s teeth are naturally darker than others. Tooth discoloration can also result from many causes, ranging from some prescription medicines to fluoride treatments, braces, coffee, tea, colas, red wine, and smoking tobacco.

[09/30/14]   Toothpaste helps remove plaque from the surface of teeth; however, only a pea-sized squeeze of toothpaste is needed on the top half of the brush. Toothpaste foam should cover all of your teeth. Remember to use an even smaller amount of toothpaste for children.

[09/26/14]   Routine teeth cleaning with your dentist will help you prevent the affects of gum disease. If tartar has built up and hardened around your teeth, only a professional will be able to effectively remove it.

[09/23/14]   Did you know that 75 percent of respondents in a survey felt that discolored teeth could hurt a person’s chances for career success? And, more than half of all respondents polled reported whitening their teeth before job interviews.

[09/19/14]   When gum disease has resulted in the loss of one or more teeth, dental implants can be used to hold a tooth in place. Dental implants can be the answer when gum disease or an accident has resulted in lost teeth.

[09/16/14]   While the first porcelain dentures were crafted by Alexis Duchâteau around 1774, they were not without problems. These dentures were prone to chip and also appeared too white to actually be convincing.

[09/12/14]   Did you know that many of the tell-tale signs that someone is wearing dentures such as, clicking, slipping or unsightly stains, are actually signs of poor fitting dentures or ones that are not being well looked after?

[09/09/14]   Have you ever wondered why your dental technician clears the area whenever doing the x-rays of your mouth? While radiation exposure isn’t enough to hurt our patients, our staff is more at risk because of the number of times they’d be exposed each day during patient x-rays.

[09/05/14]   In a recent survey, when people were asked what characteristics made a smile unattractive, the top response was discolored, yellow, or stained teeth followed by missing teeth, crooked teeth, and gaps or spaces between teeth.
