Newburyport Dental Associates

Okay, I very rarely (if ever) post anything on FB, but I am going to break my own rules. For the past couple days I have had the worst toothache. Long story, details don't matter. I'm a pretty "suck-it-up" kind of guy, but I admit...I was in serious pain, and shamefully, couldn't take it any more. So, I was in the neighborhood on an errand and decided to drop by the office to see if I could set up an appointment. I was hoping to get in by the end of the week to have the tooth removed with the intent of relying on wine and Anbesol to carry me through. Apparently, the receptionists took pity on me and went back to speak with Dr. Clancy. Within 15 minutes I was sitting in a chair having my infected tooth removed. Knowing how much pain I was in, Dr. Clancy and her awesome staff, somehow squeezed me in between the other patients. I am now at home feeling soooo much better. Point being, I just want to take a moment to thank everyone from the receptionists to the support staff, to Dr. Clancy. Your kindness and willingness to adjust on the fly to help a poor soul in pain is so greatly appreciated. Professionalism and compassion at its finest.

Awesome. Both the Dentist, Dr. Clancy and her assistant. Had a three hour appointment, excellent work, and consideration. Warm, welcoming office. Again, awesome
Who ❤️s going to this dental practice? Me! I am always entertained by Dr. Clancy & Paula Flynn! Tuesday I also acquired a lovely new shiny crown! Thank you!👍

No one *likes* shots, but did you know that the Lower Merrimac COVID Vaccine Clinic at Amesbury High School had a Therapy Dog this weekend?!?! AMAZING work by the local Departments of Public Health and the Amesbury Police and Fire Departments.

Dr. Clancy is smiling under her mask with Dr. Sam Merabi of Portside Family Dental at the vaccine clinic.

I’m so happy and so HONORED to be part of history today. The Lower Merrimac Valley Vaccine Clinic at The Page School was a complete SUCCESS. Hundreds of COVID vaccines were administered today and joy and excitement filled the room. The organization and leadership were outstanding.

To my patients who are used to my dental injections, well, I hope your arm is feeling fine tomorrow 💪🏼❤️.

Check out Channel 5 tonight for my cameo appearance. One step closer to my dreams of Saturday Night Live...

Wishing you all a fresh start in 2021 filled with good health and peace.

After 42 years of service, Dr. Hirsch will be enjoying retirement. Thank you for your years of compassion, excellence, and sense of humor. You have truly put smiles on all of our faces.

These are a few of our favorite things....

Thank you, to The Basin Apparel on Liberty Street, for our gorgeous embroidered Patagonia jackets. We love supporting local businesses and we are so grateful for the outstanding level of customer service!

Due to the snow storm expected on 12/17 Newburyport Dental Associates will be closed in the morning and watching the storm closely (in pjs under a blanket).

All team members will be participating in very intellectual Zoom continuing education courses (watching Disney + & Great British Baking Show) and cooking healthy, low-sugar meals for our families (hot cocoa and M&M cookies).

We will all squeeze in a little fitness (couch) and can not wait to see you soon (probably Friday, earliest).

Stay safe and we wish you all a wonderful and (un)productive day!!

18 years ago I had my first day at the office of Dr. Gerald S Hirsch. Little did we know then just how great it would be.

Nothing better after a long day than feeling the love. Our team will always go above and beyond for you.

WE’RE BACK!! And we’ve been back. Slowly but surely. We’ve been quiet on social media while we focus all of our attention on our patients and our team. Photo above incase y’all forgot what your dentists look like under their masks and gowns and shields. Who do you think wears the hairnet the best??

You won’t find Starbucks at our coffee station in the immediate future, but you will find a tall glass of humor with a Boston accent. #newburyportdentalassociates

WE’RE BACK. Slow and steady. We’re taking care of y’all with those emergent situations. Thanks for your patience as we open. ❤️

Although a day late, we wanted to wish all who celebrate a blessed Eid filled with Happiness & Joy.

[05/24/20]   Grab your coffee and a donut and please read:

To our valued dental family,

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through so much over the last several months, and all of us are looking forward to the day when we can resume our normal habits and daily routines. As we enter into a “New Normal” with many changes, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.

Effective Tuesday, May 26, 2020 we will expand treatment to our patients on a limited basis. We are following the guidelines from the Governor and the Massachusetts Dental Society upon reopening in Phase I. We will continue to see patients for emergencies and urgent matters and we anticipate opening our hygiene appointments sometime during Phase II. Keeping with the philosophy of our practice, we will reopen with a well though out plan and not rush the process.

Infection control has always been the top priority of Newburyport Dental Associates. Our infection control practices are made so that when you receive care it is both safe and comfortable. Our standards have continually met and exceeded the guidelines set by the CDC, OSHA, and the ADA. We closely follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new recommendations or guidance that may be issued. We have now enhanced our systems to include:

• HyperHEPA Air Filtration Systems throughout the practice
• “Touch-free” front office and electronic forms
• Barriers at the front desk
• High-level PPE for our employees
• High volume evacuator suction device to reduce aerosols
• Multiple hand sanitizing areas

You will see some changes at your next appointment. These changes were made to help protect our patients and our team.

• Our office will communicate with you beforehand and review COVID-19 screening questions. You will also be sent electronic forms to fill out prior to your visit.
• You must wear a mask to the office and you will see that our entire team is wearing a mask, including our non-clinical team members.
• When you arrive at the office you will wait in your car and call us from the parking lot. We will instruct you on when to come up for your appointment. Please come alone to your appointment. Children may come with a guardian who has also completed out pre-appointment screening.
• You will be greeted by a team member who will take your temperature with a touch-free thermometer, review COVID-19 screening questions, and show you to the hand sanitizer station.
• Our outstanding magazine collection will no longer be in the waiting room (This is the hardest news to deliver!) and we have also removed children’s toys.
• Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. You may be offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.

Our team members are also monitored closely and have temperature and health checks daily. Even though we all desire normalcy, we feel strongly that these new protocols are necessary at this time.

As the situation in the world continues to evolve you have our commitment that we will continue to adapt. We are ready to care for you and offer you a safe and healthy environment and have missed the great conversations. We appreciate your understanding, your loyalty and your trust.

Yours in good health,

Dr. Clancy, Dr. Doe, Dr. Hirsch and Newburyport Dental Associates Team

[04/30/20]   we REALLY miss our patients

Dear patients,

We miss you all. We miss the laughter and the buzz around the office. We miss taking care of you and hearing the stories of your families. We miss creating beautiful smiles and relieving your discomfort.

Our opening date has been delayed until May 18, per recommendation of the Massachusetts Dental Society. It’s possible that this date will be extended. We will continue to do what is in the best interest of our employees, and our patients, while we navigate through this unprecedented time of COVID-19.

Buffalo run through the storm. And we will continue moving through this difficult time and we will come out on the other side stronger, safer, and ready to care for you and your family.

Be well, brush & floss, & smile.

Drs. Clancy, Doe, & Hirsch

Two important updates:
#1. Office closed until 5/4. If you have an appointment between now and then we will send a text or email or call you to reschedule.
#2. Don’t be jealous, but I did find this little bit of chocolate in my fridge behind the pickles.

We miss you. Please floss. And smile.

~ Dr. Clancy and team.

Time to check your kids toothbrushes to make sure the bristles are wet!

[03/16/20]   Newburyport Dental Associates will be closed until the beginning to April in response to COVID-19. We will be available for emergency care.

We will have extended hours upon reopening to accommodate our patients who have been rescheduled during this unprecedented time.

Your health is important to us and we look forward to seeing your smiling faces in a few weeks. Please stay well and of course, don't forget to floss.

In good health,

Thank you to Sensi Kendall and Sensi Colleen for an incredibly IMPACTFUL evening.

Dr Clancy ran out for a ‘very important meeting’ this morning. And yes, all 12 donuts made it back to the office. 02/22/2020

They Said Her Admittance Was a Mistake. And Yet, She Persisted.

A fantastic read in honor of black history month and Dr. Jessie Gideon Garnett, the first African American woman to graduate from Tufts Dental School, class of 1919. Dr. Clancy’s great-uncle, Dr. Fredric Clancy, graduated in 1917. Perhaps they knew each other. If she had been even slightly less persistent than she was, Jessie Gideon Garnett might not have been the first African American woman to graduate from the Tufts School of Dental Medicine, which she did in 1919. As it was, when she arrived for registration, the dean of the school took one look at he...
