Arbor Oaks Dental, PLLC

Phoned this morning and was given a 12:30pm appointment. The office and staff were truly on top of treating patients during the pandemic. Always a caring and professional group. Highly recommend.
Town Hall is now preparing Welcome Kits for new families that are moving into our community. Our Welcome Kits feature and direct these new families to a small number of local businesses for the goods, services & professionals that they need to find. Since our Welcome Kits are exclusive, and we can only accommodate one Dentist, I would ask you to kindly let me know if you are interested in being the featured Dentist in our local Welcome Kits. It is worthy to note that, according to Dr. Cathy Goodwin in her book “Making the Big Move”, 70% of new residents and families seek out a new Dentist shortly after their relocation. As such, 7 out of 10 recipients of our Welcome Kits are actively looking for a new Dentist. I would like to schedule a time when you are expecting me so that I may drop off a sample of our "Welcome Kit" and explain the program in greater detail. Please reply to this message with your availability or call me at your earliest convenience. For a faster response, or if you prefer, feel free to call or text me on my cell which is listed in my signature. Thanks Pam Dugdale (512) 516-9213

[10/01/20]   Why your child's mouth breathing SHOULD concern you.
Mouth breathing, snoring, grinding of teeth, restless sleep and hyperactivity before bedtime are early warning signs something is wrong with your child's health.

Mouth breathing is NEVER normal. Humans are obligate nasal breathers, meaning we should only breath through our nose. If your child is mouth breathing during the day or at nighttime I encourage you to figure out why this is happening (lips slightly parted is also considered mouth breathing). It is crucial as children grow and develop to have the lips closed, breath through the nose and have the tongue resting on the roof of the mouth. Ideally a child's jaw should be wide, U shaped and teeth should be spaced like a picket fence. Mouth breathing creates a V shaped narrow jaw, crowded teeth, high rate of developing cavities, red inflamed gums, bad breath and most importantly the development of a narrow AIRWAY. Crowded baby teeth is one of our biggest indicators that there is an airway issue. Ideally we should have the space of a dime between ALL baby teeth.

If you suspect your child is mouth breathing or having any sleep issues then early intervention is key. Please contact the Arbor Oaks for a consult where we will address your concerns and discover the root cause.

Our doctors, hygienists, and office staff are focused on providing efficient and effective services using the most cutting-edge technology. Give us a call today to schedule an appointment!

Welcome to the weekend! Do you have any fun plans?!

Today is the first day of fall! What is your favorite fall activity?

Here’s a quick dental wellness tip! Don’t forget to brush your tongue! You should gently brush your tongue each time you brush your teeth to prevent plaque build-up that can lead to bad breath.
