We’re a family-owned practice dedicated to providing you and your family with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. As sibling dental specialists, our commitment begins with providing honest, caring treatment that is handcrafted just for you!
Check out the graduation parade Dr. Alexander’s awesome neighbors pulled off yesterday with a street full of 2020 graduates! 🎉
You can hear Dr. Alexander’s son, Camden, beep beeping along in the background. 😁
Caps off to summer! We hope everyone has an amazing and safe summer. Congratulations again to the graduates of the Class of 2020! 🥳
Did you know that, once upon a time, Dr. Alexander had a career in academia?
On this day, exactly four years ago, Dr. Alexander was chosen to be the Reader of Graduates’ Names at the graduation ceremony of her beloved dental students of the University of California, San Francisco’s School of Dentistry Class of 2016.
We know Covid-19 has upturned so many lives in so little time, and this year’s graduates are no different, whether they’re kindergartners or post-doctoral graduates. As they all get ready to take the next big step in their academic careers, Lux Dental Center would like to extend a very loud and happy CONGRATULATIONS to all of this year’s graduates! 🥳🎉
You’ve got this! ❤️
Our newest patient, Roslyn, joined the Lux No Cavity Club today! 🥳 She was so happy, she jumped for joy and we caught this absolutely adorable picture of her looking like a ballerina on her tippy toes! 😁🩰
Exactly one year ago, we fulfilled one of our personal dreams and opened the doors of our start-up dental office to serve the local Ashburn and surrounding Loudoun County community.
We envisioned a warm and inviting dental home for friends and neighbors, where families in our community could feel relaxed and at ease once they walked in. We were committed to stripping away the negative stigma most people associate with the dentist, one that is usually filled with anxiety, doubt, and fear of judgement. We also didn’t want our patients to feel like a number when they walked in; we always wanted them to feel heard. Most importantly, we wanted to create trusting relationships and friendships. We are so happy and incredibly grateful to say this past year has given us all of that, and so much more.
Now, one year later we are preparing to re-open our doors again following the Covid-19 closure. To celebrate the one-year anniversary of our small family business, we would like to share this article from two months ago, when Lux Dental Center was featured in local Front Porch Living Magazine. We also wanted to share some photos from a year ago, when we were carefully putting much thought and effort into every detail of our humble little office.
We will be posting extensive updates about our coordinated re-opening very soon. We can’t wait to see all of our beloved patients! We have truly missed each and every one of you. We hope everyone is doing well, and staying safe and healthy! ❤️
All the best,
Dr. Alexander and Dr. Kiangsoontra

A very Happy Mother’s Day to all the Supermoms out there! Here are some special pre-pandemic moments of Dr. Alexander and her son when they visited family in New England last Fall. We hope you are all enjoying this beautiful day with the mothers in your life!
Despite these incredibly uncertain times, we’re here for our patients...even on a Sunday! Access to appropriate PPE (and ensuring PPE is available for our frontline healthcare workers) has made it challenging to provide care during pandemic times, and we have been limiting in-office care to true dental emergencies, such as severe swelling and pain, uncontrollable bleeding, and dental trauma/injuries. Most of our other dental care has been done virtually via teledentistry, so that we’re able to still provide the same advice and reassurance that we always strive to give our patients.
The safety of our patients and staff is always our utmost highest priority, and pandemic times are no different. Next time you come in to our office, you might notice strict sterilization and disinfection protocols for both our staff and patients, not to mention our new uniform of PPE. We thank you for being patient with us as we carefully take these extra steps to ensure the safety of our patients.
Although we might look different all suited up with these extra layers of PPE, we promise we’re still smiling underneath and are still providing our patients with the same level of top-notch and personalized care! 😁 Most importantly, pandemic times or not, we are here for you, so please don’t ever hesitate to reach out to us via phone, private message, or email. We are here for you, and most importantly, we are all in this together! 😊
In honor of National Prosthodontics Awareness Week (not to mention #ThrowbackThursday), here are some old photos we pulled out of the archives of Dr. Alexander and Dr. Kiangsoontra during their three-year prosthodontic residency at the University of Minnesota!
These additional years of intensely rigorous clinical and didactic training beyond dental school is what makes prosthodontists - and all dental specialists - stand apart in a league of their own.

It’s National Prosthodontics Awareness Week! 🎉 Did you know that, in addition to being general dentists, Dr. Alexander and Dr. Kiangsoontra are among the 2% of dentists in the country who are also prosthodontists?
This makes them a rare breed of dentist who is specially trained to tackle a wide variety of complex and challenging dental issues!

To All of Our Valued Patients:
With the current trajectory of the coronavirus pandemic, we regret to inform you that starting tomorrow, March 16th, we will be closing our office until further notice and limiting appointments to true dental emergencies only. Once it is safe to resume normal operations, we will contact you to reschedule any appointments. If you have any concerns or need any dental advice, we are always here for you. Please don’t hesitate to reach either Dr. Alexander or Dr. Kiangsoontra by phone during our regular office hours, email, or Facebook. We will also be offering teledentistry via Skype if patients have urgent questions. We will follow the developments on a weekly basis and will keep our scheduled patients updated.
This decision was not made lightly, but we believe it is necessary to protect our patients and staff after reading the updated recommendations from the CDC, OSHA, and various academics studying the evidence coming from other regions where the outbreak has already occurred. In addition, our own Virginia Dental Association just announced that they recommend dental offices to postpone non-emergent dental treatment for 2 weeks.
Even if rigorous screening is done beforehand, many people infected with COVID-19 might not be aware that they are infected as they do not present with normal cold/flu symptoms. Dental procedures generate a large quantity of droplets and aerosols, and the latest evidence is showing that personal protective equipment that is standard in dentistry may not be effective enough to prevent the spread of COVID-19 to dental personnel.
We are choosing to close our office out of an abundance of caution to keep our patients, staff, and community safe; we also feel a social responsibility to do everything we can to help flatten the curve. We apologize for the inconvenience and truly appreciate your understanding.
Please stay healthy and safe. We will all get through this together.
P.S. Don’t forget to brush and floss!
All the best,
Lux Dental Center Family
To All of Our Valued Patients:
Due to the recent Coronavirus concern, some have enquired how we sanitize our office. I want to assure everyone we strictly follow all OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) universal precautions. All dental rooms are wiped down fully on all surfaces between every single patient with disinfecting wipes that kill all viruses, including the Coronavirus. Plastic barriers are placed where appropriate, and all instruments are thoroughly sterilized in an autoclave. I would like to stress and assure you that these are practices that we implement every single day and with every single patient, regardless of whether there is a global pandemic or not.
The waiting area and bathrooms are wiped down with disinfectant wipes throughout the day. Hand sanitizer is available at our front desk and all patients are asked to use it as soon as they check in to our office. All staff thoroughly wash their hands between every single patient with antibacterial soap. You can be rest assured we are following all the appropriate OSHA universal precautions regarding cleanliness and disinfection of our entire office and dental instruments.
Per CDC’s recommended guidelines, we do ask that if you are ill and experiencing respiratory symptoms (coughing, fever, runny nose, and/or sneezing), to please reschedule your appointment and follow your primary care provider’s orders. We are also taking measures to screen patients at check-in; if you have travelled internationally in the last two weeks or are exhibiting any of the aforementioned respiratory symptoms, then we will ask you to reschedule your appointment. Please keep us updated of any diagnosis you have so we can protect our staff and other patients. We have many older patients and patients with underlying medical conditions, and we do not want to put them or any of our patients at risk.
We plan on staying open to serve you unless mandated otherwise. Thank you for understanding, and we assure you that your safety is our absolute highest priority. We are actively doing everything we can to make sure our office is safe for all, and that we can still serve you despite these uncertain times.
All the best,
Lux Dental Center Team
Congratulations to Chloe, the newest member of the Lux Dental Center No Cavity Club! 🥳. This was Chloe’s first dental appointment, but she did so amazingly well! Big Sister Alexis was also there to keep her company and cheer her on! 🥰
Dr. Alexander and Jeanette finished off the month of February with a quick visit to McNair Elementary School to visit their patient Jinie’s preschool classroom! The kids not only learned about brushing and flossing, but also helped do some beautiful fillings! Dr. A and Jeanette had so much fun with this class of Junior Dentists, and they can’t wait until next February to do another school tour through Northern Virginia!
“I can't say enough nice things about the staff at Lux Dental. Firstly, the new patient paperwork was done entirely online beforehand, which was really convenient. Then at the visit, I had to bring my five-year-old daughter, and the staff could not have been more accommodating. They let her help with the x-rays, painting fluoride on my teeth, and she even got a prize from the treasure box at the end. She had a blast and can't wait for me to have another dentist visit. I plan to bring her there when she needs her next checkup because they were so good with her. The staff were so pleasant and friendly. Dr. Alexander explained everything thoroughly and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. I loved that they offered me a blanket when I sat in the chair because I'm always cold. And I got a new patient present - choice of an electric toothbrush or whitening kit. I highly recommend this place!”
Thank you so much, Jennifer! 🙏🏼 And thank you to all of our patients who have kindly taken the time to leave a review about your experience with us!
Aaand here we are on our second stop of the Lux Dental Center School Tour for National Children’s Dental Health month! 👩🏻⚕️🦷This morning, we got to hang out with 150 students at Guidepost Montessori at Broadlands, and we had such a blast doing a bunch of flossing and brushing activities with them! Thank you so much for all the fun, guys! 🥳
President’s Day might mean a day off for the kids, but it also means Come to Work with Mom Day here at Lux Dental Center! Our dental assistant Jeanette brought her kindergartner son in, and he enjoyed a midday matinee in one of the treatment rooms! 🥰 He got the full Lux package of amenities with a neck pillow, dimmed lighting, a cozy blanket, and his favorite show! Not too bad for a day at work with Mom! 😁

Did you know that it’s National Children’s Dental Health month for all of February? 👩🏻⚕️ To help promote dental awareness with kids, Dr. Alexander and her dental assistant Jeanette are visiting some Ashburn schools this month to share the benefits of good oral hygiene habits!
Today, they visited the special education classes at Belmont Station Elementary School, and the students helped them brush Ramon the Dinosaur’s teeth to a sparkling white sheen! 😁🦷
We’re gearing up to visit the kids at Belmont Station Elementary School tomorrow, but we’re also bringing some love to the teachers with our Lux Dental Center gift baskets! 🥰 Loudoun County Public Schools has some amazing educators teaching our county’s children, and we want to express a small token of our appreciation to these dedicated men and women!
Congratulations to Ryan, our newest member of the Lux No Cavity Club! 👏🏼🦷🏅Regardless of age, we love keeping all smiles of the family healthy and happy! 😄
We are so excited to be nominated as finalists for @poshsevenmagazine’s Best of Suburbia’s General Dentist 2020! 👩🏻⚕️👨🏻⚕️🦷 Please take a moment to vote for us (category #34)!
Our entire team strives every day to give our patients the utmost best dental experience, so we would be so incredibly thankful for your vote! 🙏🏼
One of our favorite patients, Amanda, has a very meaningful online project dedicated to sharing kindness and cheer to as many people in the world as possible. #AlbertsHope involves sharing beautifully designed rocks with messages of kindness and compassion, in hope that it will inspire and encourage anyone who comes across them.
This past weekend, Dr. Alexander made a super quick family trip up north, and left behind some #AlbertsHope rocks in Rhode Island, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. One of the greatest gifts to offer in life is kindness, so we hope you’re as inspired by the Albert's Hope story as we are!
Dr. Alexander and Jeanette visited Moorefield Station Elementary School this morning to talk with 155 kindergarteners about dentists as community hero(in)es! In exchange, the kids helped Dr. Alexander with HER flossing...floss dancing, that is! Clearly she still need a lot more work. 😂

“Here's the bad and the ugly....
I moved to the Ashburn area almost 13 years ago. Prior to moving, we loved our dentist in Fairfax and we just could NOT find anyone near her level of service and gentle but thorough care (I hate the dentist)!
I've been to 5 different practices since our move to Loudoun and I always left my cleanings with the confirmation of hating the dentist. My experiences include having my face/hair soaked from the water cleaning tool, had my gums bleeding and sore, teeth were not thoroughly cleaned, and I sat where I showed pain, but they ignored it and kept going...(have I mentioned I hate the dentist???)
Well, here's the good news. Through the recommendation of my neighbor, I reluctantly made an appointment at Lux Dental Center with Dr. Lynn. From the moment I entered their doors, they made it their priority to ensure a comfortable and luxurious experience (at the dentist....whaaaat)! Once in the chair, they offered me a blanket, because I must've looked cold through my body language. They also offer essential oils to calm you, headphones to drown out the tools and anything you could possibly want to watch on the tv. The best part? Dr. Lynn understood my anxiety and took it upon herself to perform the cleaning in a modified way (where parts were sensitive) to cause me no pain. She was proactive, gentle, and truly cared about my comfort. I left her office feeling I had finally found my new dentist!
Their attention to client service, gentle care, and really knowing their patient's needs are amazing. I would highly recommend her and her practice to anyone! For anyone who is in need of a new dentist, GO SEE HER! You will not be disappointed!”
Thank you so much, Jinie! 🙏🏼 And thank you to all of our patients who have kindly taken the time to leave a review about your experience with us!
Dr. Alexander and Dr. Kiangsoontra are a brother and sister dentist duo who are committed to giving their patients a welcoming and relaxing dental experience. As dentists who are also board-certified in prosthodontics, we take our dentistry very seriously, but we don’t take ourselves seriously! We’re a family-owned business, and we want all of our patients to walk through our doors and immediately feel like family. We’ve carefully designed a beautiful office space to make you feel at home, and we’ve also gone the extra mile to provide as many soothing amenities as possible for our patients, so you don’t have to worry about being nervous at the dentist’s office!
After completing dental school, Dr. Alexander and Dr. Kiangsoontra spent an extra three years of specialty training in prosthodontics, which means that they were rigorously trained to be detail-oriented masters in restoring beautiful and healthy smiles. They are true artists in their craft, and are experts at smile makeovers and cosmetic dentistry. They also practice family dentistry and welcome all members of the family at our office, no matter how old or young!
We’re committed to redefining the dental experience, and we can’t wait to share it with you. We never want our patients to feel rushed when they’re in our office, so we always take the time to get to know them first as people, then as patients. We are also dedicated to educating our patients about their personal oral health by using state-of-the-art technology to share with them exactly what we are seeing in their mouths in real time. Dentistry no longer has to be a scary mystery, but is something that is easily accessible and understandable.
Most of all, we vow to always provide you with honest and personalized advice to help you make well-informed decisions about your oral health. We practice dentistry with integrity every single day and with every single patient. We hope to change the way you feel about dentistry, one appointment at a time. Most of all, we can’t wait to meet you, and care for you and your family!
