Jones County Family Dentistry

Good afternoon Mike,

I am just letting you know that Americlean is doing disinfecting for Covid 19. Please let me know if there is anything we can do for you.

Thank you,

Happy Administrative Assistants Day Tasha Miller and Beth Cox....a day late! Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much for getting Ayden in today for his little emergency! Small town service is so amazing!

Jones County Family Dentistry was formed by the merging of Dr. Warner and Dr. Stingley, with the addition of Dr. Shao and Dr. Nagel. Come visit us today!

Operating as usual

[08/11/20]   Our phone lines are currently down and we do not have incoming or outgoing call capabilities at this time. Thank you for your patience.

Happy Birthday to our wonderful hygienist, LeeAnn! We hope you have a fun day celebrating! Thanks for all that you do!

[08/11/20]   We wish everyone the best as we recover from the storm in the coming weeks. With our electricity now restored, we will be able to open Tuesday, August 11.

We officially have a new member of the JCFD family! Dr. Katie and Dr. Shao welcomed their daughter, Evelyn Mae Shao, on July 23rd. Everyone is doing well and we thank you all for being so understanding with scheduling during Dr. Katie’s maternity leave!

We know we have amazing patients, but one (15 year old!!) really impressed us this week knowing the way straight to Dr. Katie and Baby Shao’s hearts! This may be a new staple in the Shao household for a few weeks!

We are growing!

The Anamosa office of Jones County Family Dentistry is looking for a full-time dental hygienist to join our wonderful team. If you or someone you know would be interested in this opportunity, please e-mail us at [email protected] or call our office at 319-462-2313. Thanks!

We are open!

We have been hard at work the past while to ensure that when this time came, we could be ready to provide excellent care to you all while keeping both our patients and staff safe and healthy. With that being said, things will look a little different at your appointments here at Jones County Family Dentistry. A few of the changes due to COVID-19 include:

1. We will have all phone call confirmations that will include screening questions related to COVID-19.
2. You will be screened a second time upon arrival at the office. Your temperature will be taken and all temperatures of over 100.4 degrees will result in your appointment being postponed. If you are showing any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 or have been exposed to COVID-19 your appointment will also be postponed.
3. You are required to wear a mask to your dental appointment- please bring one with you.
4. You will need to come alone to your appointment. If you have a special circumstance, please contact the office prior to your appointment and we will coordinate a plan.
5. We will all look different due to the required PPE (personal protective equipment) which is for both your safety and ours.
6. The flow of appointments and the office in general will be different to allow for proper infection control and social distancing.

We ask for your patience as we make our way back into the groove after this closure. As always, if you have any questions feel free to reach out to either of our offices. We are so excited to be able to see you all again!

Teacher Appreciation Week and National Nurses Day all at once makes for a lot of wonderful people to thank! You are wonderful and we appreciate all that you do for us and our community!

Hopefully on this dreary day we can all be like Owen (adorable son of our Monticello Assistant, Heidi) and take a moment to stop and smell the roses!! Even while stuck inside this kiddo knows how to keep his spirits high!

Happy National Dental Hygienists Week to these wonderful women!! While social distancing may have thwarted our plans to celebrate with them all in-person, we had fun surprising them with some doorstep gifts to brighten their days!

Today is Dr. Katie's birthday! We couldn't get together to throw her a party but those that lived close were able to put on a Birthday Parade for her!

Even during the temporary closure of dental offices across the country due to COVID-19 our team manages to find time to stay in touch. Stay safe Jones County!

Please contact our Anamosa office at 319-462-2313 and our Monticello office at 319-465-3233.

We've got a proud mom in the house! Lexah is the daughter of Anamosa's Office Manager, Tasha! Way to go, Lexah!

Congratulations to AHS student Lexah. She wrote an essay as part of our high school health course using the Unity Point Education Program and won a $1,000 scholarship! #AnamosaPride Unity Point Clinic-Anamosa

Happy Dental Assistants Recognition Week to our wonderful four assistants!! These women do so much for our offices and we don’t know what we would do without them! Enjoy your flowers and goodies Colleen, Emily, Heidi and Pam!

Happy National Love Your Pet Day from all of our Jones County Family Dentistry fur children! We hope you’ve all given a little special attention to your pets today!

We hope you're all enjoying a relaxing weekend. We recently had an office visitor who introduced us to a new occupation, other than motherhood, from which there are no breaks!

As many of you guys have heard our hygienist, Amanda, has been dealing with a medical emergency the past couple of weeks. We are so happy to report that she is doing much better and is recovering well! She wanted to share a few words with everyone:
"I just want to say THANK YOU to all my peeps at Jones County Family Dentistry! Specially my patients for being understanding and flexible with your recall appointments during my medical leave. Excited to get out of the hospital today and spend the holidays with family. See you all soon! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! -Amanda". She passed along a few pictures of the Children's Hospital Christmas decor she took as she was finally able to get out of the hospital bed and stretch her legs.

Less than 6 weeks until the end of the year 😨! Be sure to schedule your cleanings or treatment needs you might have been putting off before your insurance benefits reset in January. Our schedules are filling up!

[10/31/19]   A belated congratulations to the Anamosa Raiders on their Cowbell win a couple of weeks ago!! We would also like to congratulate Scott Sampson and Lori Schulte for being our 🐮 🔔 contest winners!! We will send you a private message to coordinate picking up the gift cards next week 🙂 Thanks to all who participated in our contest!

Zombie Scarecrows!!!

Would like to thank these two for braving the cold and handing out candy for Treats in the Street! Enjoy your Halloween candy AND don’t forget to brush and floss. We love seeing our patients, especially when they are cavity free!!

Our final Hygiene Spotlight belongs to Heather Decker!!

Heather has been a hygienist at our Anamosa office for two and a half years. Heather says that her favorite part of her career as a dental hygienist is being able to help patients with their oral hygiene. “I love seeing the improvements within my patients when they come back every 3-6 months!” She loves working at Jones County Family Dentistry because of her co-workers as they truly make work fun!

Heather spends most of her free time outside of work hanging out with her family and friends. She has a puppy named Moo Moo who is her pride and joy. She is black and white and waddles around like a cow, so thus her name was born! In general, Heather is a dog fan as even at her nursing home rotations during hygiene school, she found time to give some love to the house dog! Heather and her husband, Curt, are expecting their first daughter in December and everyone at JCFD couldn’t be more excited!

Our friends at Eastern Iowa Oral Surgery are hosting a Pumpkin Decorating Competition and we would love for you to vote for our creation!

All you have to do is go to their page and "Like" our Jones County Family Dentistry Family Farm picture!

Our staff and their awesome kids loved getting to hang out and make some fun farm animals out of pumpkins! Enjoy the pictures!

In the Hygiene Spotlight this week is Amanda Johnson!!

Amanda has worked as a hygienist at Jones County Family Dentistry for six years. Amanda says that her favorite part about practicing hygiene in Anamosa is that she gets to be a part of a small community and it reminds her of how she grew up. “It’s more than just a business, it’s family!” She loves that her job allows her to help patients improve their overall health through their oral care. She has always been a fan of oral hygiene, as she posing with her own toothbrush in her childhood picture posted here!

Outside of work, her two young girls consume most of her free time! However, she also enjoys reading, writing, biking, golfing, and most importantly, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes! Something you may not know about Amanda is that she lived in Rosario, Sinaloa (Mexico) for one year as an exchange student after her high school graduation. She speaks Spanish and it is so helpful to have such a wonderful skill within our office!

This week’s Hygiene Spotlight is shining on LeeAnn Reiss!!

LeeAnn has been a hygienist at our Anamosa office for ten years. LeeAnn says that her favorite part about her job as a hygienist is getting to work with her patients because they all feel like family to her! (Sometimes they really are- as her dad is in the picture with her!) Her favorite part of working at JCFD is working with her fellow employees. “They really make work feel like home!”

When she’s away from work, LeeAnn loves being outside, playing in the dirt, fishing and hanging out with her family! She loves coffee and Christmas trees, and she’s our resident bird expert at our Anamosa office! Come on in and meet LeeAnn sometime- we’re sure you will love her!

Do you hear that sound?? The sound of cowbells?? That's right, its the week of the Cowbell Classic, the face-off between Anamosa and Monticello football! Let's have some more fun and we will reward the team spirit with a $50 gift card to Monticello Sports to purchase some new team gear!

POST a team spirit picture in the comment section below for the team you would like to come out victorious in Friday's matchup, then SHARE this post!

Because we want to show our loyalty to both teams, there will be a winner from Anamosa and a winner from Monticello!

Pumpkinfest is here!! This year we are participating in the Save The Pumpkins Scarecrow Contest to Scare Away Cancer!! Our own staff members came up with an awesome scarecrow setup- even though going to the dentist is far from scary! We are very proud to sponsor such a fun and meaningful event in our community! We encourage you all to go out and participate in as many of the events being put on as possible!

October is National Dental Hygiene Month! We'd like to shine the spotlight on each of our invaluable dental hygienists who work so hard to ensure you have a bright and healthy smile!

First up! Wendy Bollwitt, who has worked at the Monticello office for 20 years. Wendy says that her favorite part of hygiene is getting to know her patients over the span of many years. “When you see people every 3-6 months, they become like family and you want to provide the best care for them!” Her favorite part of working at JCFD are the patients and her co-workers. “I now have more staff to interact with and share different treatment ideas with!"

Outside of work, Wendy enjoys hanging out with her husband, Matt, her sons Ben and Zach, and friends. She also enjoys cooking, golfing and reading. It should be noted that she does not have one favorite tooth, she loves them all, especially when they are clean!

New sign in Monticello. Looking good!! Stop in and say hi to Dr. Katie Nagel Shao!

Here they are! This year's Cy-Hawk Giveaway winners are all prepared for the remainder of Iowa's season! Congrats to Hawkeye Fan Nicole Reilly Shaw and her family!
