[05/30/21]   All gave some; Some gave all. Remembering the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Never forget.

[04/04/21]   This week, a patient said to me and my staff, "You know, you guys change lives." That took me by surprise for a minute. There are so many technical details in our work that it's easy to lose sight of the big picture. The end result of all these small technical steps, that involve the talents of many people, does have a significant impact on patient's lives. It helps them look better, feel better and interact with friends and family better. It is the most gratifying aspect of this profession; to use our talents and skills to make the world a happier and healthier place, one patient at a time. From our family to yours, Happy Easter.

[01/09/21]   "Where would you rather be than right here, right now?" We're working Saturday until noon (but hoping to get out a little early). Go Bills! And remember to floss, but not exactly like Stefon!

[01/01/21]   Wishing you Health and Happiness in the New Year!

[12/25/20]   Dr. Frank, Dr. Joe and the entire staff at Alden Family Dentistry wish you and your loved ones a safe, healthy and Merry Christmas!

Dr. Joe and our staff will be back on Saturday morning from 8am until noon. Have a safe and healthy weekend!

[11/13/20]   I apologize for being a little late with this annual reminder. But, remember to consider utilizing your VALUABLE dental benefits before they expire at the end of the year. We will do our best to accommodate your needs, but try not to wait until the last moment. Stay safe and healthy!

[10/30/20]   It was a BUSY, but rewarding week. We're so grateful for the support and cooperation of our family of patients during these unprecedented times. Just a quick reminder to be prudent about indulging in sweets the Hallow'een. If you should need us, we'll be back at it, bright eyed and bushy tailed on Monday morning.πŸ₯°

[10/08/20]   After I gave a patient a good report on her checkup, she said, "You know what they say, Doc; 'Be true to your teeth, or they will be false to you.'" 😁😁😍😍

[04/12/20]   We miss you, and we are wishing you a safe, healthy, and Joyous Easter!

[04/01/20]   Good morning. The beautiful sunrise definitely is a mood-booster. Although we miss our patients, we realize we have a responsibility to keep EVERYONE safe and infection-free. Our phone and computer are still being staffed during regular business hours, remotely. Me and Dr. Joe are caring for emergencies when necessary and we are always available for tele-consults at no charge. Remember, the best way to defeat this pandemic is to limit interpersonal contact. However, we are still available to treat true emergencies. Please, let's all do our part to flatten the curve so we can get back to normal as soon as possible.

[03/24/20]   Hi: This is Dr. Frank. I spent the morning at the office taking care of emergencies. Lisa is working remotely from home, covering our computer and phone until 4pm. She's there to help you. Dr Joe and I will be in tomorrow to help with urgent matters. Call me if you need advice on an issue. My mobile is 716-574-6199. Take care, stay healthy, and let's flatten the curve!

[03/20/20]   The COVID-19 was an animal virus that mutated so that it could be transmitted from animals to humans. For awhile, that was the only way it was transmitted. The virus mutated again so that it could be transmitted from person to person. Because it is an animal virus, our immune system may not recognize it and be able to fight it. That's why there is so much concern. Even "healthy" people, with normal immune systems may still become seriously ill. Preventing the spread of COVID-19 is essential.

[03/19/20]   So what is an "Emergency". Remember the strategy is to keep close inter-personal contact to a minimum to reduce the risk of disease transmission. Trauma, Bleeding and Infection are emergencies. Toothaches are emergencies. Other things might be considered urgent, such as fractured teeth and lost fillings. Dr. Joe and Dr. Frank will be available for Phone consultations to determine if an office visit is required. The office phone (716-937-7812) will be answered during the week from 9am until 4pm. For issues that require the doctor's immediate attention after-hours, call Dr. Frank at 716-574-6199.

[03/19/20]   Hi, It's Dr. Frank. Kim and I are here at the office until noon to cover emergencies only.. After that, Lisa is monitoring the phones and computer remotely. We will be covering emergencies tomorrow as well.

[03/18/20]   It seems we have hand washing under control. With dental offices closed except for emergencies, toothbrushing and general oral hygiene is super important. Please take extra-good care of your teeth. Brush for two minutes twice a day, especially before bedtime. Floss carefully and thoroughly at least once a day. An alcohol-free anti-bacterial mouthwash can be a helpful addition.Be careful with your diet. Limit your sugar consumption. Avoid foods that are hard to chew or may be likely to break filling or a tooth.Avoid sticky foods that could dislodge a crown or bridge. We want to keep potential emergencies or urgent visits to a minimum. If something does go wrong, we will have you covered.

[03/18/20]   We are complying with the latest directives and only seeing emergency patients at this time. Our receptionist, Lisa, is set up to work remotely from home. Until we set up call-forwarding, she may be reached at 716-868-2443. Of course, you can always reach me at 716-574-6199. Be safe.

[03/17/20]   To Our Patients and Our Community:
The novel coronavirus crisis is developing rapidly and it requires us to adapt. The American Dental Association has issued a directive advising dental practices to suspend elective procedures for three weeks and to be available for emergency care only. Alden Family Dentistry feels this is appropriate for the health and safety of our patients and our community in general. We will be contacting our scheduled patients to make arrangements for their future care. The doctors and staff will be meeting to plan our schedule for the next three weeks. I expect we will be open and staffed and ready to deal with any urgent situations that may arise. Our contact information is as follows: Office: 716-937-7812 Dr. Frank's Mobile: 716-574-6199 E-Mail [email protected]. We are sure you will agree that these actions are prudent and we certainly appreciate you understanding.

[03/05/20]   Dental Implants have been a game-changer in our practice. The allow us to offer options to our patients that were never available before. We use them to replace a missing tooth or teeth in a very natural way. They are also terrific for stabilizing loose dentures. However, every reputable dentist knows that there is no TRUE substitute for a natural tooth. The goal of our preventive oriented practice is to preserve natural teeth for a lifetime. This approach is ultimately healthier and more economical than alternatives. We are highly skilled at all the restorative techniques and procedures that help our patients keep their natural teeth. We save roots.

[02/27/20]   Our patients are AMAZING. They show up no matter what the weather!

[12/31/19]   The Doctors and Staff here at Alden Family Dentistry wish you and your loved ones a very Happy and Healthy New Year and we Thank You sincerely for your support throughout the past year. We look forward to seeing our Family of patients in 2020!

[12/05/19]   I realize it's getting late, but I just wanted to remind patients fortunate enough to have dental insurance that their benefits may expire at the end of the year. It is a shame not to take advantage of this valuable benefit. We will do our best to accommodate your needs before your benefits run out for the year.

[12/04/19]   Alden Family Dentistry is sponsoring the DJ at this year's Christmas in the Park!

[11/08/19]   Your local, convenient, hometown dental office has had "Extended Hours" since 1982. As part of the community, the doctors and staff at Alden Family Dentistry understand our patients are busy and hard-working. We are committed to removing obstacles to achieving optimal oral health. We serve our patients until 9pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Saturday mornings during the school year.

[11/04/19]   The last two months of the year tend to be really busy around here. Folks who may have put off treatment are trying to get it done before their insurance expires at the end of the year. Wle're used to that and we do our best to accommodate our family of patients. If you have benefits you would like to use before the end of the year please call ASAP! This week, we are here Monday and Thursday from 8am-4pm; Tuesday and Wednesday from 8am-9pm and Saturday from 8am until noon.

[10/30/19]   Ugghhh! I don't like being the party pooper, but Halloween can be harmful to your smile with all that sugary candy. Here are some tips. Limit exposure to sugar. Enjoy candy as dessert at mealtime and try not to consume it between meals. Brush your teeth about a half hour after eating candy. this allows the acid level of the mouth to come back to normal. Use a fluoride supplement rinse such as Act and any one of the enamel protecting toothpastes. Happy Halloween, and take care of your smile!!!

[10/21/19]   Ok! Busy week scheduled at AFD! Monday and Thursday from 8am until 4pm; Wednesday and Thursday from 8am-9pm; and Saturday from 8am-noon. Hanley Orthodontics will be here on Friday. Have a great week, everyone!

[10/18/19]   In a fully formed adult tooth, the pulp is the nerve and blood supply. These functions are not essential to the functioning of the tooth, however. As long as the tooth has adequate bony
support in the jaw, and a healthy attachment, it can remain functional even without a pulp. This is what makes root canal therapy possible. A damaged or infected pulp can be removed, and the tooth can be retained in function through root canal therapy.

[10/17/19]   The pulp of a tooth is surrounded by hard tissue. As such, it has an extreme susceptibility to inflammation. If the pulp becomes inflamed, it cannot swell. It does not take much inflammation to cause irreversible damage. This is why early diagnosis BEFORE symptoms develop is critical. Once symptoms develop, there’s already inflammation.

[10/17/19]   The Pulp of a tooth is an amazing structure. In a fully formed adult tooth it consists of blood vessels and nerves (a neurovascular bundle). However, during our early development the cells that eventually become the pulp are responsible for the actual formation of the tooth (stem cells).

[10/17/19]   Many potentially serious dental problems begin without causing any symptoms. It's just human nature to think that everything must be OK if it doesn't hurt, but that often works against us.The foundation of minimally invasive dentistry is early diagnosis before symptoms occur. We want to diagnose and treat decay and gum disease at there earliest stages, before our patients experience symptoms. That approach gives the best outcome.
