Wishing everyone a happy and safe Independence Day!

05/24/2020

On this Memorial Day, we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice that we might be free.

[05/07/20]   Dear Patients, families, and friends,

Thank you for your patience during this temporary closure. The Governor recently issued a new Executive Order related to resuming elective care (Executive Order 20-51), which gives us permission to start seeing additional patients on Monday May 11.

Our number one priority is the safety and health of our patients and our team. We have put together a detailed Implementation Plan to reopen, which includes prioritizing and phasing in both the number and types of procedures. This is necessary to ensure safe distancing and systems are in place for all procedures. We have always followed stringent CDC guidelines regarding infection control and will continue to do so, along with some additional new precautions:

• We will be screening all patients prior to appointments for specific symptoms. You can also fill out the Patient Screening Form online prior to your appointment: https://www.albertvillesmiles.com/patient-forms
• We are asking that only the patient come into the treatment area, or just one parent/guardian
• We are asking everyone to wear a mask to the appointment
• Patients should brush at home before their appointment, we have closed the brushing area
• When you arrive, please check in from your car with our new app with your phone. There will be a link on our website, or you can scan a QR code at the office.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we begin the scheduling process and do our best to get patients back in the office.

Dr. David Resch

[05/06/20]   Governor Walz has issued a new Executive Order related to resuming elective care. (Executive Order 20-51). This means that elective dental procedures could start early next week. Once we know this has been finalized, our staff will begin calling to schedule patients. The plan is to minimize the amount of time between appointments for all patients, meaning that patients due just after we closed will be scheduled first. As always, we will prioritize patients that are in pain or have more urgent issues. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we begin the process of phasing in our patient care. More updates coming soon.

As always, if you are in pain or have other serious issues, Dr. Resch can be reached at his emergency number (available on the office voice message).

Dear Albertville and Buffalo Orthodontics patients, family, and friends,

Thank you for your understanding in this difficult time. I am writing to inform you that the Governor has just announced an extension of the stay at home order for Minnesota. Therefore, we are forced to continue our temporary closure.

Due to this order, all appointments currently scheduled prior to May 13, 2020 are cancelled. We will need to wait to reschedule these once we have a firm idea on when we are going to be able to reopen our offices.

Our office staff will still be available with limited hours to answer phones. If you have a non-urgent question, please leave a message and someone will contact you soon. If you have an emergency - pain, trauma - please know that Dr. Resch will be available during this time for emergency questions and appointments. Leave a message and Dr. Resch will get back to you as soon as possible.

Dr. Resch is also available via virtual appointments, which can be scheduled from the home page of our website.

I apologize for the inconvenience that this may create and appreciate your understanding during this unique and difficult time.

Sincerely,

Dr. David Resch

Due to the recent COVID-19 situation, Governor Walz has called on Minnesotans to stay at home for a two-week period starting March 27 through April 10. Due to this development, we will be cancelling all appointments prior to April 13 at both of our locations. As we get closer to this date, further updates may be needed. Our staff will be calling you to schedule appointment dates once we know exactly when the office can reopen.

Please know that while I am unable to keep these scheduled appointments, I will be available for emergency and virtual visits as needed. The regulations of who I can see in office are fairly strict at this time, so if you have an infection, are in pain, or have swelling or injury, please call the office at 763-497-2550. If you reach the voice message, an emergency contact number will be provided to call me directly. One of the main reasons for the strict regulation is to avoid having to use PPE as much as possible – our health care workers on the front lines are in desperate need and so we are trying to do everything possible to avoid using additional resources.

Also, if you have a question related to your treatment, or would like to have a “virtual appointment” with me, I am available daily using the Zoom app. Using your phone or iPad, download the Zoom meeting app and contact the office to set up an appointment. These appointments can also be scheduled directly from our website (click on popup at the bottom of home page).

The good news is that even if the office is forced to stay closed for another month or two, this should not adversely affect your treatment except to prolong the treatment time slightly. If you have concerns, please give us a call or we can discuss more in a virtual appointment.

One again, thank you all for your patience through this difficult time. I am confident that we will get through this and be better on the other side.

03/16/2020

For the safety of our patients, staff, and community we will be closing our office until March 30. Dr. Resch will be available to see patients for emergency and urgent needs. Obviously this is an ever evolving and changing situation, so we will continue to update patients as necessary. Please call our office if you have any questions or concerns.

Fortunate to be a part of another graduation celebration for the University of Minnesota Orthodontic Department. Our orthodontic residents are always among the most talented, brightest, and gifted students in dentistry, and this class is no exception. Their accomplishments and attention to patient care gives me great confidence that the future of the specialty and continued excellent patient care is in good hands!

My father in law Harvey served in World War 2. He rarely spoke about his experiences but when he did, it made it very real. Every day, memories of World War II-its sights and sounds, its terrors and triumphs—disappear. Let’s not forget what they and many others gave for us to be free.

Thank you to all those who serve and to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. #memorialday

An amazing weekend of hockey, but even more amazing being able to be a part of the fund raising efforts for the Midwest Rett Syndrome Foundation. Dr. Resch played goalie this weekend for the Moose in the Moose Winter Classic. This has become a yearly tradition, with all proceeds going to benefit the Rett Syndrome Foundation. This year the tournament was able to raise over $11,000, thanks to many donations from teams, players, and businesses!
