He proudly served during World War 2 in the Pacific theater. He lead his troops in many battles and was awarded 4 Bronze Stars for valor and 2 Silver Stars as well. He returned to the states and eventually was promoted to command the Wisconsin National Guard. He was given the United States Legion of Merit for his service to our country. My father also served but in Europe and entered the war near it’s end. He helped liberate Concentration Camps. He saw the horror of that war first hand. Dad returned to Wisconsin, graduated from Dental School and served as the Chief of the Dental Service for the Veteran’s Administration for many years. On this Memorial Day let us each thank the men and women of our armed services and let them know we care about them and the job that they do!
