Great advice for Patients at the beginning of their Braces Journey from Dr. Sven Supplies:
Congratulations for getting your new braces, you are on your way to getting your great smile!
When starting a new treatment involving Braces, Oral Hygiene can be more challenging but of utmost importance. Braces care can be time consuming and some children may feel overwhelmed at first by a new and very important responsibility placed on them. These are some tips to help make braces care easier for kids:
1. Flossing every day is very important and building a routine by doing it in the evenings, when there’s more time, will help make it easier.
2. Pack a small bag with a lip balm, toothbrush, toothpaste, floss and wax and take it with you whenever you need to be away from home for a longer time.
3. Make sure you protect your braces and your teeth by wearing an orthodontist approved mouth guard for contact sports. Please contact the office and we will provide one for you free of charge.
Making the effort now will pay off a little later. Now you are set to get your beautiful and healthy smile.

Helpful tips from Dr. Supplies for our braces wearers:
•Toothbrush & Toothpaste –Oral hygiene is always important but it’s especially important for braces wearers, so make sure you brush after lunch or as soon as you get home from school to keep your teeth and gums healthy.
•Floss Picks – Keep them handy, and use them to help you keep your braces clean.
•Wax – you never know when you may have a poking wire or an irritation so make sure you keep a wax box with you at all times.
•Elastics – It’s important to wear your elastics exactly how Dr. Supplies tells you to. This will insure the treatment goes right on schedule.
•Mouth Guard – If you play sports, wear a mouth guard to protect your braces and your mouth! If you are in need of a mouth guard, please call our office.
•Lip Balm – your lips can get dry quickly in braces so keep a lip balm in your bag to prevent cracking.
•Retainer – Never put your retainer on your lunch tray. Keep it either in your retainer case or in your mouth, otherwise there’s a 99% chance you’ll throw it away by accident at some point.

“As an orthodontist, I have the ability to change a person’s life in a positive way. A straight smile is not just aesthetically pleasing, but it can also boost a person’s self-confidence. I really feel that orthodontists are blessed, since patients come to us in most cases because they want to, not because they have to. It’s great to be an orthodontist, as I genuinely enjoy helping my patients on their journey to achieving an awesome smile!
